David Beckham has said he is “feeling very lucky” after marking his milestone 50th birthday with an elegant family celebration and heartfelt reflections on his glittering football career.
The former England captain, who turned 50 on Friday 2 May, shared a series of touching photos on social media capturing the special day spent with close family and friends. Beckham was joined by his wife, Victoria, and their three youngest children – Romeo, Cruz, and Harper – for an evening of glamour, laughter and cherished memories.
Images showed the Beckham family dressed to the nines, with David and his sons in classic tuxedos, while Victoria and their daughter Harper donned stunning floor-length blue gowns. One particularly intimate photo showed David and Victoria sharing a kiss across a candle-lit table, surrounded by friends and loved ones.
In a shared post on Instagram, the couple wrote: “Creating special memories with family and friends. We love you all. @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #HarperSeven xx.”
Noticeably absent from the celebrations were the couple’s eldest son, Brooklyn, and his wife, actress Nicola Peltz Beckham. Their absence has not gone unnoticed by fans online, though no reason has been publicly given for the couple missing the occasion.
Alongside the birthday celebrations, David posted a montage of his most treasured career moments, expressing gratitude for both his professional and personal life. “Looking back on some of my favourite football memories as I turn 50… I met my wife at a United game, found friends for life in the Academy & played for some of the best teams in the world,” he wrote.
He continued: “My children have come along on this special journey with me… and now a dream come true to be an owner with Inter Miami. Feeling very lucky.”
Beckham’s journey from a working-class East London boy to global football icon is the stuff of legend. He famously began his career at Manchester United, where he was part of the historic 1998–99 treble-winning side that secured the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League in a single season. His 115 England caps – the third-highest for the men’s national team – cemented his place as one of the country’s greatest ever players.
After stints at Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, Beckham retired in 2013. Since then, he has remained in the public eye through various ventures, including his co-ownership of American football team Inter Miami CF and numerous brand endorsements.
Together with Victoria, the former Spice Girl turned fashion designer, Beckham has cultivated an enduring celebrity presence. The couple, who married in 1999, are widely seen as a British power duo and were recently the focus of the popular Netflix docuseries Beckham. The show gained particular attention for a now-viral moment in which Victoria attempted to describe her upbringing as “working class”, prompting a wry interjection from David reminding her of her father’s Rolls-Royce.
Their relationship and family life have continued to captivate fans across generations, with their four children often appearing in the spotlight alongside them.
Beckham’s 50th birthday marks another milestone in a life that has blended sporting excellence, global fame, and family devotion. His latest reflections show a man content with his past achievements and excited for the future – not just as a football icon, but as a father, husband, and entrepreneur.
As he enters a new decade, fans and friends alike have flooded social media with tributes, showing that the boy from Leytonstone remains a beloved national treasure.
