In the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, host Amitabh Bachchan celebrated the legacy of legendary actor Rajesh Khanna, highlighting his iconic role in the classic film Anand. The episode featured Bollywood stars Farah Khan and Boman Irani as special guests, who participated in the game to raise funds for their respective charitable initiatives. Farah played for ‘Happy Umbrella,’ an animal welfare organization run by photographer Avinash Gowariker and his wife Shazia, while Boman supported Indefensive for Animals and Roti Bank.

An engaging start with Trivia

The episode commenced with Amitabh Bachchan presenting a Super Sawaal to kick off the game, asking about a Mumbai neighborhood named after the Portuguese for ‘Holy Cross.’ Farah confidently answered ‘Santacruz,’ securing their first Rs 10,000 and earning the super power, Dugnastraa. As the game progressed, the duo faced a question regarding the capital city housing a notable structure. Farah answered correctly with ‘Kuala Lumpur,’ drawing a playful anecdote from Boman about his past experience filming a fight scene in that very building. Their camaraderie continued as they jokingly acknowledged Bachchan as the “real Don,” a nod to his legendary role in the film Don.

Celebrating Rajesh Khanna’s legacy

As the questions advanced, Amitabh posed a poignant question about the author of the poem “Maut Tu Ek Kavita Hai,” featured in Anand. With a sense of pride, he revealed his role as Bhaskar Banerjee in the film. “It was a very beautiful film. It was one of Rajesh Khanna’s amazing performances,” Bachchan reflected, emphasizing, “Of all the films he has done, this was the most amazing.” This sentiment underscored the emotional depth and lasting impact of Khanna’s portrayal, resonating with fans of Indian cinema.

The duo answered the question correctly, winning Rs 80,000, further solidifying the episode’s nostalgic tone. Their growing success led them to the Rs 1,60,000 question, where they confidently utilized their Dugnastraa lifeline to answer a question about the top-level internet domain for Germany, showcasing their growing prowess in the game.

A journey down memory lane

As the episode progressed, Farah and Boman reminisced about their friendship, with Farah recounting how she initially sought Boman’s help while directing an ad film before her breakout project, Main Hoon Na. Boman humorously recalled how Farah had been unaware of his acting capabilities at the time. This light-hearted exchange highlighted their long-standing rapport, much to the amusement of Big B, who expressed surprise at Farah’s acting debut in that film.

The episode’s charm was further amplified by Big B’s witty banter, particularly when he quipped that Farah needed to pay him for working in her film, drawing laughs from both guests. This interplay of humor and nostalgia set the stage for a lively and engaging episode.

Progressing through the game

As they reached the Rs 3,20,000 question, Farah and Boman exhibited their growing knowledge and teamwork, successfully tackling the challenges. Their journey continued with a ‘Super Sandook’ segment, where they answered seven questions correctly, accumulating Rs 70,000.

However, the stakes grew higher as they faced the Rs 6,40,000 question regarding Manuel Aaron, India’s first International Master in chess. Choosing the lifeline ‘Video Call A Friend,’ they confidently selected Myanmar as their answer.

Honoring philanthropy and knowledge

For the next challenge, they faced a question about Ratan Tata, selecting Cornell University as the institution he supported through significant donations. Amitabh Bachchan took a moment to reflect on Tata’s contributions, stating, “What a great human being… such a simple human being.” His praise for Tata highlighted the importance of philanthropy and the impact of leaders on society.

The episode culminated with a Rs 25,00,000 question related to cricket, where Boman correctly identified Farokh Engineer as the recipient of the Colonel CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, marking a triumphant finish to an engaging episode.

With heartfelt tributes, playful banter, and a celebration of knowledge, the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 not only entertained viewers but also honored the legacies of Bollywood’s finest. The focus on charitable causes reinforced the show’s commitment to social impact, making it a memorable installment in the ongoing series.
