Sony PS5 Pro Launch in India Delayed Due to Telecom Spectrum Dispute

In disappointing news for gaming fans, Sony has revealed that the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro will not be launching in India. The delay is due to unresolved issues with the wireless connectivity standards in the country. Specifically, the PS5 Pro utilizes the 6GHz wireless band used in IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7), which has yet to be authorized for use in India. Sony confirmed that the PS5 Pro will be unavailable in countries where this wireless band remains unapproved.

This news follows growing excitement around the PlayStation 5 Pro, which is expected to offer enhanced gaming experiences, including better performance and graphics. The delay in India highlights ongoing regulatory challenges related to new technologies like Wi-Fi 7, which are currently in the process of being integrated into telecom infrastructure in various countries. While other regions may see the PS5 Pro launch, Indian consumers will have to wait for resolution of the spectrum issues before they can get their hands on the next-generation console.

Google Gemini on Android Gets More Capable with ‘Utilities’ Extension

Google is making strides in improving its Gemini AI assistant for Android with the introduction of the new “Utilities” extension. Announced earlier at the Google I/O developers conference, this extension allows the Gemini assistant to take on more on-device functions, making it an even more valuable tool for Android users. With the Utilities extension, Gemini can now manage tasks like setting alarms, controlling media playback, capturing photos, and launching third-party apps directly on the device.

This update is rolling out gradually for the Gemini mobile app on Android, significantly expanding its functionality and usability. Users can now perform these tasks hands-free, giving them a more seamless and efficient experience with Google’s AI assistant. This move further enhances Gemini’s competitiveness in the AI assistant space, directly competing with popular assistants like Siri and Alexa by offering deeper integrations and improved capabilities on Android devices.

iQOO 13 India Launch Set for December 3

Chinese smartphone brand iQOO has confirmed that its latest flagship, the iQOO 13, will be launching in India on December 3. The announcement was made through a post on X (formerly Twitter), with the phone set to be available exclusively on Amazon and through iQOO’s own online store. The iQOO 13 is expected to bring high-end specifications, including powerful processors, enhanced cameras, and a vibrant display, as the company aims to compete in the competitive Indian smartphone market.

With the launch of the iQOO 13, the brand is looking to solidify its position in the premium smartphone segment, competing against established players like OnePlus and Samsung. The iQOO 13 is anticipated to cater to tech enthusiasts looking for flagship-level features at a more competitive price point. The phone will also likely feature the latest 5G connectivity and other advancements that are becoming standard in high-end devices.

Netflix Adds ‘Moments’ for Saving and Sharing Scenes from Movies and Shows

Netflix is making it easier for users to share their favorite scenes with the introduction of the “Moments” feature in its mobile app. This feature allows users to bookmark specific scenes from movies or TV shows and share them as custom screenshots on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. The Moments feature is currently available on the iOS version of the app, with an Android rollout expected in the coming weeks.

This new feature enhances Netflix’s engagement tools by enabling users to share memorable or impactful moments with their social circles, creating a more interactive experience around the content they consume. It also taps into the growing trend of social media integration in entertainment, allowing Netflix to maintain its edge as a leader in streaming services.

Microsoft Improving Software and Game Emulation for Windows on Arm

Microsoft is working on a major update to improve software compatibility for its Windows on Arm devices, which are powered by Arm-based processors. The update, which is being tested by select Windows Insiders, is focused on enhancing the emulation of 64-bit software and games on these devices. The aim is to address compatibility issues and improve performance for software that was originally designed for x86 processors.

This move is part of Microsoft’s ongoing effort to strengthen the Arm-based ecosystem, which has been growing in popularity due to the efficiency and power of Arm processors. By improving the emulation of 64-bit applications, Microsoft is opening the door for more users to consider Arm-based PCs as a viable alternative to traditional Windows PCs. This update could have a significant impact on the Windows market, as it makes these devices more versatile and capable of running a wider range of applications.

In summary, November 8th saw exciting announcements across multiple tech sectors. From the Beats x Kim special edition collaboration to the launch of new AI capabilities in Google’s Gemini, and the anticipated iQOO 13 smartphone, the tech world continues to evolve at a rapid pace. With regulatory challenges impacting Sony’s PS5 Pro launch in India and new features coming to Netflix and Microsoft, the landscape is constantly shifting, offering plenty for tech enthusiasts to look forward to.
