Manchester City Edge Southampton in FA Cup Classic to Reach Historic Fourth Final
Manchester City booked their place in a fourth consecutive FA Cup final after a tense 2–1 comeback victory over Southampton at Wembley, but they were pushed to their limits by an inspired Saints side.
Southampton stunned the favourites in the 79th minute when Finn Azaz produced a moment of brilliance, curling an unstoppable strike into the top corner from distance to give the Championship side a shock lead. The goal briefly silenced Wembley and sparked hopes of one of the competition’s biggest upsets.
However, City responded quickly. Jeremy Doku equalised in the 82nd minute, his effort taking a decisive deflection before beating the goalkeeper. The turnaround was completed five minutes later when Nico González unleashed a powerful long-range strike into the top corner, sealing victory and sending City through.
Despite dominating possession and creating more chances, City were repeatedly frustrated by Southampton’s disciplined defensive structure and counterattacking threat. The match ended 2–1, with City’s experience and depth ultimately proving decisive.
Southampton left the pitch to applause from their supporters after a spirited performance that earned widespread praise.
PSG and Bayern Deliver Chaos Classic in 9-Goal Champions League Semi-Final
In Europe, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich produced one of the most dramatic Champions League semi-finals in recent memory, with PSG edging a breathtaking 5–4 victory at the Parc des Princes.
The match swung wildly from start to finish. Harry Kane opened the scoring for Bayern from the penalty spot, but Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and João Neves quickly turned the game around for PSG. Bayern hit back through Michael Olise to level at 2–2, setting the tone for a relentless contest.
Ousmane Dembélé then struck twice, including a composed penalty and a powerful finish in the second half, as PSG repeatedly punished Bayern’s defensive gaps. Dayot Upamecano and Luis Díaz kept Bayern in the contest, but PSG’s attacking intensity ultimately proved too much.
The game set a record as one of the highest-scoring Champions League semi-finals ever, with both teams exchanging chances at a breathless pace.
