Delhi University (DU) has successfully filled nearly 92 percent of its undergraduate seats in the first round of admissions for the 2024 academic session. Out of approximately 71,600 available seats across 69 colleges and departments, 65,483 students have confirmed their enrollment by submitting the required fees. This marks a significant milestone in the university’s admission process, which has seen an overwhelming response from applicants this year.
A senior university official reported that out of the 83,678 candidates who accepted their allocated seats, 65,483 have taken the final step of confirming their admission. The first round of the admission process commenced on Friday, with 97,387 seats initially offered to candidates. As of midnight on August 21, 2024, 43,515 candidates opted to upgrade their course or college preference, while 18,478 chose to finalize their admission by freezing their allocated seats.

This year, DU introduced a new feature that allows candidates to view cut-offs and ranks based on their category and quota directly on their dashboards. The Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS(UG)) has also received a significant response, with 2,45,287 candidates applying in Phase I and 1,85,543 submitting their preferences in Phase II. Overall, the university received a remarkable 1.72 million preferences, underscoring the continued high demand for its undergraduate programs.
