Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, and his wife Sophie had to stay in a “holiday let” at Sandringham for their Easter break after Prince Andrew, Duke of York, refused to vacate Wood Farm.
The couple had hoped to spend their annual Easter at Wood Farm, but Andrew’s delay forced them to take residence in the estate’s Gardens House—a property that was once home to Sandringham’s head gardener and costs up to £4,110 a week in peak season.
An insider revealed that Edward had visited Andrew for a “quiet word” urging him to finalize his move to the neighboring Marsh Farm, amid concerns that he was “dragging his heels.” Despite the delay, the palace expects Andrew to complete the move imminently.
The Gardens House, located just 300 yards from Sandringham House, sleeps eight and has recently been upgraded with luxury carpets, fast broadband, and modern amenities to accommodate the royal visitors.
This Easter marks another chapter in the ongoing tensions surrounding Prince Andrew’s relocation from Royal Lodge at Windsor and his residence arrangements on the Norfolk estate. Edward and Sophie’s temporary stay at Gardens House ensures they can continue their family traditions, albeit in a less familiar setting.
