Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with interim head coach Igor Tudor after just 44 days in charge, following a disastrous run that has left the club hovering above the Premier League relegation zone.
Short-Lived Spell Ends
Spurs confirmed they had “mutually agreed” to end Tudor’s tenure with immediate effect after only seven matches in charge.
The decision follows a damaging 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest, which left Tottenham 17th in the table—just one point above the relegation places.
Poor Run of Results
Tudor’s time in north London was marked by a severe lack of results:
- Five defeats in seven matches in all competitions
- No Premier League wins during his tenure
- Just one point collected, the lowest in the league over that period
He also became one of the few managers to oversee at least five Premier League games without recording a victory.
Season in Crisis
Tottenham’s struggles extend beyond Tudor’s short spell:
- Winless in 13 league matches
- Last league victory came in December
- Ongoing injury issues to key players like James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski
The club now faces a genuine battle to avoid relegation from the top flight for the first time since 1977.
What Happens Next?
Spurs say a new head coach will be appointed “in due course,” with a replacement expected within days.
Assistant coach Bruno Saltor will oversee training in the meantime, while several members of Tudor’s backroom staff have also departed.
A Risk That Failed
Tudor was brought in to inject attacking football and spark a turnaround after the dismissal of Thomas Frank. However, performances failed to improve significantly, with declining attacking output and defensive vulnerabilities continuing to plague the team.
Despite the circumstances—including injuries and low confidence—the appointment is widely seen as a gamble that did not pay off.
Tough Fixtures Ahead
Tottenham return after the international break with a challenging run of fixtures, including matches against:
- Sunderland
- Brighton
- Aston Villa
- Chelsea
With time running out, Spurs must quickly stabilise to secure their Premier League status.
