New mobile app and upcoming switch games revealed at Nintendo Direct

London, 28 March 2025 – Nintendo’s highly anticipated Nintendo Direct event, streamed on 27 March, brought a slew of exciting announcements, including a brand-new mobile app and a diverse lineup of Nintendo Switch games. While many fans were hoping for more details on the Nintendo Switch 2, the company confirmed that further information about its next-generation console will be unveiled on 2 April.

Here’s everything that was revealed at the Nintendo Direct event.


Nintendo today: A new mobile app for gamers

One of the standout announcements was the introduction of Nintendo Today, a brand-new mobile application available for Android and iOS users via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This app is designed to keep players up to date with the latest news from Nintendo, offering a range of interactive features aimed at enhancing user experience.

Key features of Nintendo today:

  • Personalised Calendar: A fully interactive calendar that can be customised with themes inspired by iconic Nintendo franchises such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, and more.
  • Home Screen Widgets: Users can personalise their smartphone experience with home screen widgets available in 4×2 or 4×3 formats, allowing quick access to Nintendo news.
  • Daily News Feed: A dedicated news feed will deliver real-time updates on Nintendo Switch 2 announcements, game news, videos, and even exclusive Nintendo comics.
  • Event Tracker: Players will receive alerts and schedules for Nintendo Direct presentations, game launches, and in-game events, ensuring they never miss an important update.

While additional features may be introduced, Nintendo has yet to provide full details on future app expansions.
