QUETTA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has proclaimed a consequential endeavour to transform all 28,000 tube wells in Balochistan to solar power within three months, with a calculated price of 55 billion rupees, reported in The Pakistan Today News.
In the succeeding step, the administration prepares to transition ten lakh tube wells across Pakistan to solar power.
This judgment was advanced during a cabinet appointment in Balochistan, followed by important formations involving the Governor, Chief Minister, and federal and provincial ministers.
The premier stressed that without progressing Balochistan, Pakistan’s general improvement would be insufficient. The federal government has committed 500 billion rupees for the tube wells project, which will aid 28,000 farmers. Seventy per cent of the budget will come from the federal government, with thirty per cent coming from the regional government. The strategy is slated for fulfilment within three months.
PM Shehbaz emphasized that the federal government has historically invested billions of rupees annually in electricity bills for Balochistan’s tube wells. By converting to solar energy, these prices will decline, easing the load on federal funding. Balochistan has secured full dedication to the formidable task of transforming 28,000 tube wells into solar systems within a limited timeframe.
Reporting that the country currently offers one million tube wells on diesel, overseeing approximately 3.5 billion dollars yearly, Shehbaz discloses that projects are underway to rapidly execute a national sample for their transformation to solar energy, with farmers contributing complimentary loan spans to ameliorate this change.
