England international Joe Marchant has married his long-term partner, Hollie Shearer, in a ceremony held in Winchester at the weekend. Hollie is the daughter of former Newcastle United striker and football pundit Alan Shearer.
The couple got engaged in November 2024 after two years together, and celebrated their wedding day with family and friends before moving the party on to the Royal Oak in Winchester.
A Quick Trip Home for Shearer
Alan Shearer had been on punditry duty at the FIFA World Cup final in the days leading up to the wedding, but made sure to fly back in time to walk his daughter down the aisle. He later posted a handful of photos from the day, including a shot of Hollie showing off her new ring as Marchant put pen to paper on the marriage register. Hollie’s sister, Chloe, also shared a picture from the newlyweds’ first dance.
Settling Into Life in France
Since Marchant’s move to Stade Français from Harlequins, Hollie has been based with him in France, and the pair have kept followers updated on their life there through social media.
Ahead of the wedding, Hollie also gave a glimpse of what was to come during her hen do earlier in the year, wearing an outfit that referenced her married name in style.
With the ceremony now behind them, the newlyweds are expected to take some time away on honeymoon before Marchant turns his attention back to pre-season training in France.
Marchant’s England Journey
Since his Test debut in 2019, Marchant has become one of the more versatile options in the England backline, comfortable at outside centre or on the wing. He has featured at two Rugby World Cups, in 2019 and 2023, and has built a reputation for his footwork, pace and defensive solidity.
His club career has taken him from Harlequins to a spell with the Blues in New Zealand, before his current move to Stade Français in the Top 14.
