Apple is reportedly preparing for a significant overhaul of its device lineup in the coming years, with the company looking to introduce a host of new and redesigned products. According to a Bloomberg report, Apple’s future plans include multiple foldable devices and several other updated gadgets that promise to bring fresh designs and enhanced features to its iconic lineup. Among the highly anticipated products are a foldable iPad, a sleek new iPhone, and updates to the AirTag, Magic Mouse, and Apple Watch.
Foldable iPad
Apple is developing a foldable iPad that could change the way users interact with its popular tablet. According to the report, the device will be roughly the size of “two iPad Pros side-by-side,” offering a flexible display that could reach 20 inches when unfolded. Although currently in prototype stage, the foldable iPad is expected to have a “nearly invisible crease,” which is one of the major development goals for the device. This foldable iPad will likely run a version of iPadOS but will also be capable of supporting some macOS apps, making it a hybrid device that could bridge the gap between Apple’s tablet and laptop lines.
The foldable iPad is expected to debut in 2028, with some speculation suggesting that it will also support Apple’s accessory lineup, including the Apple Pencil. Alongside the iPad, Apple is also working on a foldable iPhone, expected to arrive by 2026. The foldable iPhone could have a display larger than the current iPhone 16 Pro Max when unfolded, with Apple reportedly favouring an inward-folding design, similar to other foldable devices on the market.
iPhone 17 air
Apple is also preparing to launch a new, sleeker version of its iPhone, the iPhone 17 Air. Expected to replace the iPhone Plus model, this new device will be significantly thinner, with a thickness of only 5mm to 6mm. To achieve this compact design, Apple may make several trade-offs, such as a smaller battery, a single rear camera, and a single speaker. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Air may ditch the physical SIM slot, further streamlining the device’s design. Despite initial reports suggesting that the iPhone 17 Air would be priced higher than the premium Pro models, The Wall Street Journal now states that it will be priced lower than both the Pro and Pro Max variants.
Apple watch ultra 3
Apple is also working on an updated version of its Apple Watch Ultra. According to Bloomberg, the third-generation model will feature the same satellite capabilities found in the iPhone, allowing users to contact emergency services and iMessage contacts through the Globalstar satellite network. Additionally, the new Apple Watch Ultra is expected to introduce a hypertension detection feature, which will notify users if it detects a state of hypertension, although it will not provide specific readings.
