Congress’ Nationwide Protest Against SEBI Chief

The Congress party is set to hold a nationwide protest on Thursday in response to allegations leveled by Hindenburg Research against SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) chief Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband, Dhaval Buch. The allegations have created a significant stir, with the Congress demanding Buch’s resignation and calling for a joint parliamentary committee to investigate the controversy surrounding the Adani Group.

The protest is a clear indication of the heightened scrutiny of SEBI’s regulatory actions, especially in the context of governance and transparency within India’s financial sector. The Congress party’s agitation is seen as an effort to pressure the government into taking decisive action on the matter, which has become a focal point in the ongoing debate over corporate oversight and accountability in the country. The demonstration underscores the growing tension between political entities and financial regulators as the Congress seeks to bring attention to what it perceives as lapses in the regulatory framework.

Ram Madhav’s Return Energises J-K BJP

In a significant political development, BJP leader Ram Madhav, recently appointed as the election in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir, arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday to spearhead the party’s campaign for the upcoming assembly elections. These elections, scheduled for September, will be the first in a decade for the region and are seen as crucial for the BJP’s strategy in Jammu and Kashmir.

Madhav’s return to the political fray after a five-year hiatus has breathed new life into the local BJP unit, which previously worked closely with him during the 2014 elections. His reappointment is viewed as a strategic move by the BJP to strengthen its position in the region, where political dynamics have been significantly altered post the abrogation of Article 370. Union Minister G Kishen Reddy will also play a key role in overseeing the election preparations, further highlighting the BJP’s focused approach towards securing a strong mandate in Jammu and Kashmir.

Madhav’s involvement is expected to galvanize the party’s cadre and enhance its electoral prospects. His deep understanding of the region’s political landscape and his prior experience in handling the BJP’s affairs in Jammu and Kashmir are seen as assets that could help the party navigate the complex and sensitive issues that dominate the region’s political discourse.
