AAP became new hope of people, scripted histories in politics: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal celebrated the 10th foundation day of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday, highlighting the party’s significant impact on Indian politics over the past decade. Founded on November 26, 2012, Kejriwal established the AAP on a date that holds historical significance, marking the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Kejriwal expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from citizens and the dedication of party workers, stating, “Aam Aadmi Party was established 10 years ago on this day. In these 10 years, with the immense love of the public and efforts of the workers, the party created many histories in Indian politics.” This sentiment resonates with the party’s mission to represent the common people and bring about systemic change in governance.

Kejriwal emphasized that the AAP has emerged as a beacon of hope for citizens across the country. “Today, the Aam Aadmi Party has become the new hope of the people of the country. We are trustworthy,” he stated, reinforcing the party’s commitment to integrity and public service. This assertion comes at a time when political trust in traditional parties has been challenged, positioning the AAP as a viable alternative.

Since its inception, the AAP has made significant strides, particularly in Delhi, where it has established itself as a dominant political force. The party first came to power in December 2013, capturing public attention with its focus on anti-corruption, education, and healthcare. Kejriwal’s governance model, which includes initiatives like the Mohalla Clinics and free electricity and water for residents, has garnered praise and bolstered the party’s image as a pro-people entity.

The AAP’s journey has not been without challenges, including political rivalries and criticisms from opposition parties. However, the party has continued to maintain its narrative of change and transparency. In recent years, it has expanded its presence beyond Delhi, contesting elections in various states and advocating for issues pertinent to citizens across India.

Kejriwal’s assertion of the AAP as a “new hope” reflects the party’s aspiration to connect with voters dissatisfied with the status quo. By aligning its identity with the foundational values of democracy and social justice, the AAP seeks to resonate with a diverse electorate, particularly younger voters who are increasingly engaged in political discourse.

The 10th foundation day also served as a reminder of the AAP’s journey and the lessons learned along the way. Kejriwal’s leadership has been pivotal in navigating the complexities of Indian politics, and his vision for the future includes a broader national presence for the party. “We will continue to work tirelessly for the people and ensure that their voices are heard,” he assured supporters during the celebrations.

As the AAP looks ahead, it faces the challenge of sustaining its momentum and translating its local successes into national appeal. With a decade of history behind it, the party aims to script new chapters in Indian politics, fostering a political culture rooted in accountability and public engagement.

The celebration of AAP’s 10th anniversary not only marks a milestone for the party but also underscores its commitment to being a transformative force in Indian democracy, advocating for the rights and welfare of ordinary citizens. As Kejriwal aptly put it, the party’s journey is a testament to the power of people’s love and trust, shaping a new narrative in the political landscape of India.
