As we approach the Cambridgeshire County Council elections on May 1st, 2025, one thing is clear: the future of Papworth and Swavesey depends on the choices we make now. Chris Poulton, a passionate and dedicated local campaigner, is standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate to represent our area. Alongside Lorna Dupré, who is running for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Mayor, they are the team we need to bring real change, fight for fairer funding, and deliver a better future for our community.

A real change for Papworth and Swavesey

For years, our community has been taken for granted by the Conservative Party. They have neglected our roads, underfunded essential services, and failed to invest in the local infrastructure we need. But with Chris Poulton and Lorna Dupré, there is a chance to break free from this pattern of neglect. They are committed to fighting for the things that matter most to us—safer roads, better community facilities, a healthier NHS, and stronger local services.

Chris Poulton is no stranger to the issues that have long plagued Papworth and Swavesey. Having grown up in Cambridge and now living in Caxton, he understands the challenges our communities face because he experiences them too. Chris is not just a politician—he is a local campaigner who has always been there for the people. He has worked tirelessly to address concerns like flooding, road safety, and lack of local services. His commitment to improving the quality of life in our community is unwavering.

Safer roads and better infrastructure

One of the most pressing issues in Papworth and Swavesey is the state of our roads. Years of neglect by the Conservative administration have left our streets unsafe and in disrepair. Chris Poulton is determined to change that. He has committed to securing extra funding to fix our roads, ensuring that everyone—from local families to commuters—can travel safely. Whether it’s potholes on Ermine Street North in Papworth Everard or the general disrepair of many rural roads, Chris is ready to tackle these issues head-on.

Improving local infrastructure isn’t just about roads; it’s also about community facilities. Chris is passionate about ensuring that our public spaces are safe, clean, and accessible to everyone. From parks to recreational areas, he will work tirelessly to create spaces where families can thrive.

A fair deal for our NHS

Our local NHS has been under immense pressure in recent years. With Conservative underfunding and a lack of support, the quality of healthcare in Cambridgeshire has suffered. But Chris Poulton and Lorna Dupré are ready to change that. They are both committed to fighting for fairer funding for our NHS, ensuring that our doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals have the resources they need to provide the best possible care to our community. Whether it’s improving local GP services or supporting the expansion of healthcare facilities, Chris and Lorna are dedicated to ensuring that healthcare is a priority in Papworth and Swavesey.

Fighting climate change and supporting our environment

The fight against climate change is another area where Chris Poulton and Lorna Dupré will make a real difference. From flooding caused by damaged sluice gates on the Great Ouse to the broader environmental challenges our region faces, both candidates are committed to taking action. Chris Poulton has already taken steps to address local flooding concerns and will continue to work with experts and community groups to ensure that Papworth and Swavesey are resilient in the face of climate change.

Lorna Dupré, as Mayor of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, will focus on delivering smarter investments that reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable development. Together, they will fight for a greener, cleaner future for our region.

Why you should vote liberal democrat

In the race for Cambridgeshire County Councillor, the choice is clear: Chris Poulton is the candidate who will deliver real change. The Conservative Party has failed us for too long. Their broken promises, neglect, and lack of investment in our local services are unacceptable. On May 1st, voting for Labour will only make it easier for the Conservatives to regain control and continue their disastrous policies.

Chris Poulton’s record speaks for itself. He is a committed local campaigner who has consistently listened to residents, addressed their concerns, and worked hard to deliver results. He is not here to make empty promises—he is here to make a real difference.

But it’s not just about Chris. On May 1st, you have two votes, and your second vote is just as important. Lorna Dupré, a well-known local campaigner and the Liberal Democrat candidate for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Mayor, is the only candidate with a proven track record of standing up for our community. She will fight for fairer funding, better infrastructure, and a more accountable local government. Together, Chris and Lorna represent the change we desperately need.

A vote for the future

The upcoming election is crucial for the future of Papworth and Swavesey. With so much at stake, we cannot afford to let the Conservatives continue their reign of neglect. This election is a chance for real positive change. With Chris Poulton and Lorna Dupré, we can fix our roads, improve our local services, support our NHS, and protect our environment.

Don’t let the Conservatives take our community backwards. On May 1st, make your voice heard. Vote for Chris Poulton as your next County Councillor and Lorna Dupré as your Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Mayor. Together, we can build a brighter, fairer future for Papworth and Swavesey.

What people are saying about Chris

More and more people in Papworth and Swavesey are backing Chris Poulton for County Councillor. Here’s what some of your neighbors are saying:

  • “We’ve been overlooked for too long. Chris is the first person I’ve seen out speaking to residents and standing up for us. He genuinely cares, and that’s why I’m voting Lib Dem this time.” – Lorry, Ermine Street North, Papworth Everard
  • “I’m voting for Chris because he has a solid track record of getting things done. He knows the area, he listens, and he follows through. We need someone like Chris representing us.” – Claire, Cowdell End, Elsworth
  • “I got in touch with Chris about the flood risk in our area due to damaged sluice gates on the Great Ouse, and he took it seriously. He listened, kept in touch, and is working hard to support us. That’s the kind of County Councillor we need.” – Vicky, Ceetes Lane, Fen Ditton

Make your voice heard on May 1st

The election on May 1st is going to be close, and every vote counts. Don’t let your chance for real change slip away. Vote for Chris Poulton and Lorna Dupré—your local Liberal Democrat team working for a brighter future.
