Rajkummar Rao announces new film Maalik on his birthday, wows fans with fierce look

On his 40th birthday, Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao surprised his fans by announcing his new film Maalik. Known for his versatility and intense roles, Rajkummar is set to take on a new challenge as he steps into the shoes of a gangster in this upcoming action-thriller. Directed by Pulkit, Maalik marks Rajkummar’s debut in a full-fledged gangster role, signaling a bold new direction in his career.

The fierce first look of Maalik

Rajkummar took to Instagram on Saturday, August 31, to reveal the first poster of Maalik. The poster showcases him standing on a police jeep, dressed in a stark white outfit. He holds a gun in his hand and looks back with a determined, intense expression. The poster’s caption reads, “Paeda nahi huye toh kya, ban toh sakte hai (What if we aren’t born that way but we can become).” This intriguing line hints at the film’s theme of transformation and ambition, resonating with the dark, gritty world that Maalik is set to explore.

In his Instagram post, Rajkummar captioned the poster with excitement: “Maalik ki duniya mein aapka Swagat hai. Shoot shuru ho chuka hai, jald hi mulaqat hogi (You are welcome in Maalik‘s world. The shoot has started, we will meet soon)!” His wife, actress Patralekhaa, reacted with “Jeeee baat,” a popular phrase used to express appreciation, further amping up the anticipation among fans.

Fans react to the announcement

Rajkummar’s fans and followers were quick to flood the comments section with excitement. One fan expressed admiration for his consistent work, saying, “Man, he is bringing content back to back. From Mr and Ms Mahi to Srikanth, to Stree 2, and now this. He is healing from last year’s disappointments.” Another fan praised his growth as an actor, stating, “Rajkummar has come a long way. He looks amazing. A big leap from Stree and Stree 2.”

Fans also commented on his dedication to his craft, with one Instagram user writing, “Acting level Rajkummar Rao is on fire,” while another shared their excitement about the upcoming film, “Oh my good really your new film is coming soon I can’t believe it. So excited for it.” The announcement has undoubtedly fueled curiosity and anticipation for Maalik, as fans eagerly await Rajkummar’s gangster avatar.

About Maalik and its team

Maalik is an action-packed thriller that will showcase Rajkummar in a role he has never played before—a feared and powerful gangster. This is the first time he will delve into this genre, adding to his already diverse filmography. The film is directed by Pulkit, known for his recent success with thrillers and dramas. His involvement suggests a gripping, well-crafted narrative that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

The film is produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films banner and Jay Shewakramani’s Northern Lights Films, two names synonymous with quality cinema. The production is already underway, with an extensive shooting schedule planned across various locations in India. While the release date has yet to be announced, the first glimpse has certainly built up anticipation for the film.

Rajkummar’s last film and his growing career

Rajkummar Rao was last seen in Stree 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 horror-comedy Stree, which was a major hit. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 saw Rajkummar reprising his role alongside Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurrana. The film also featured special cameos from Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar. Released on August 15, 2023, Stree 2 continues the success of the first film, further solidifying Rajkummar’s position in Bollywood as a bankable star.

With Maalik, Rajkummar is taking a leap from his recent comedic and light-hearted roles to a more intense and action-oriented character. Known for his ability to seamlessly transition between different genres, Rajkummar is expected to bring depth and authenticity to the role of a gangster, just as he has done with his previous performances.

Conclusion

As Rajkummar Rao turns 40, he is ready to embark on a new chapter in his acting journey with Maalik. The film promises to be a gripping action-thriller, and the fierce first-look poster has already generated buzz among his fans. With a stellar team behind the project and Rajkummar’s proven acting prowess, Maalik is poised to be a major milestone in his career, adding yet another feather to his cap.
