Celebrity Big Brother housemates left stunned by Olympian’s encounter – and drama brews ahead of next eviction
Olympic legend Daley Thompson left his Celebrity Big Brother housemates open-mouthed this week, after revealing that he once told a young David Beckham to “f*** off” during a training session.
The revelation came during a round of Never Have I Ever, a game that encouraged the celebrity housemates to confess secrets from their pasts. Former CBBC presenter Angellica Bell asked if anyone had ever been rude to a fan – and Thompson promptly raised his hand.
The 66-year-old former decathlete shared that the incident happened back when he was training at Crystal Palace. “I’m in the middle of a pole vault session, I’ve got my head in the game,” he recalled. “And this kid comes up and asks for an autograph.”
Despite the youngster’s insistence that his school was only visiting for a short time, Thompson declined, telling the group, “I said, ‘sorry son, you can’t,’ and he walks off.” The surprise twist? Years later, Thompson says he bumped into the same boy – who revealed he had been none other than David Beckham.
“He said to me, ‘you told me to f*** off.’ I said, ‘yeah, not sure I did,’” Thompson chuckled, while the housemates erupted in laughter. Jack P Shepherd, of Coronation Street fame, described the story as “brilliant”, while singer Chesney Hawkes called it “a good one”.
Thompson, ever the sportsman, added he couldn’t be sure if he’d actually used those exact words – but admitted he may well have done in the heat of the moment.
Tensions rise elsewhere in the house
While Thompson was reliving past encounters, not all was light-hearted inside the Big Brother house.
A tense moment unfolded between EastEnders star Patsy Palmer and The Only Way Is Essex alum Ella Rae Wise, during a discussion prompted by RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner Danny Beard. The topic? Whether anyone had “hooked up with a really famous person.”
Wise, 23, admitted she had been messaged by a celebrity who was now married. Palmer immediately interjected, cautioning, “Don’t share things about people with wives.” She later told Hawkes, “I hate that kind of thing. It brings it low. Like we’re not scum of the earth.”
Wise, visibly upset, responded: “Why is everyone so serious today? Pats made me feel really bad about saying that. But I didn’t reply to the DM. I didn’t reply to the DM.”
Palmer clarified her position, saying: “It’s sometimes good to flag up ‘cause everyone gets carried away. But you do have to be protective of yourself – you might regret it in the morning. You know how things can go, and it’s not nice.”
Wise later added that the message had been received before the unnamed celebrity had tied the knot.
Nominations begin ahead of eviction
As the evening wore on, housemates began casting their nominations for this week’s public eviction. Jack P Shepherd nominated Wise, while JoJo Siwa nominated Danny Beard, albeit gently.
“With both being part of the LGBTQ family,” Siwa explained, “I feel like we’ve kind of distanced. I’ve tried to talk about things, but those efforts get ignored.”
Siwa went on to say, “I feel like I should feel that distance with Daley, you know what I mean – I don’t feel like I should feel that with Danny.”
By the end of the show, it was revealed that Daley Thompson and Patsy Palmer will face the public vote ahead of Friday’s live eviction.
Thompson received four nominations from Bell, Chris Hughes, Donna Preston, and Palmer. Palmer herself received five, from Bell, Hughes, Beard, Wise, and Siwa.
Celebrity Big Brother continues at 9pm on Friday on ITV1 and ITVX, with fans eagerly waiting to see who will be the next to leave the house.
