Jesy Nelson has given fans a heartfelt update from her hospital bed, where she’s been receiving care for over a month following a diagnosis of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) during her pregnancy.
The former Little Mix singer, 33, revealed she underwent emergency surgery in late March after doctors discovered that her twins were “living off one placenta”, putting both babies at serious risk. TTTS is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition affecting identical twins who share a placenta, and it can result in imbalanced blood flow between the babies.
Despite the challenges, Jesy shared a positive and light-hearted message over the weekend, expressing her hopes for the future – and a desire to freshen up her hair colour once she’s back home.
“When I first come out of hospital, one of the first things I wanna do is dye my barnet,” she said with a smile in a candid TikTok video from her hospital bed. “First of all because… get your greys out for the lads! Second of all, I feel like I’ve been this colour for quite a while now. I don’t feel like it’s ginger anymore, it’s just like a washed-out auburn.”
Jesy also revealed her boyfriend, musician Zion Foster, has suggested she go for a “browny-blonde” look, though the singer admitted she’s still undecided. “I don’t know what suits me, so I want your advice,” she told fans. “What hair colour do you actually love on me best? I can’t decide.”
Her loyal followers were quick to respond, with many calling for her to keep her signature auburn shade, while others encouraged her to experiment with lighter tones.
Now seven months into her pregnancy, Jesy previously revealed that her twins are monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA), meaning they share a placenta but have individual amniotic sacs. According to the NHS, TTTS affects around 10 to 15 per cent of MCDA twin pregnancies and can have “serious consequences” if not treated promptly.
The condition is caused by abnormal blood vessel connections in the shared placenta, which leads to uneven blood flow between the twins. One twin, referred to as the donor, transfers blood to the other, known as the recipient. This can result in one baby becoming anaemic and undernourished, while the other may suffer from an excess of blood and fluid, leading to heart strain and other complications.
Jesy has been open with fans about the highs and lows of her pregnancy journey, and last month offered a reassuring update on her condition. “We just wanted to come on here because we are another week further along, and we feel so grateful and blessed that these little babies are still going strong,” she said in a video.

Despite her lengthy hospital stay, the Black Magic hitmaker has kept spirits high. In the same clip, she panned around her hospital room before joking about the limited sunshine she’s been able to enjoy. “We’re still in here! Hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine. Unfortunately, we can’t! Well, we can. I mean, Zion takes me out in the wheelchair down the road, but that’s as far as we can go.”
Jesy announced her pregnancy in January with a touching photo showing Zion placing a protective hand over her baby bump. Since then, the couple have kept fans updated on their emotional and health-filled journey.
With the TTTS now reportedly resolved and her twins continuing to grow strong, Jesy’s fans are cheering her on as she looks forward to brighter days – and perhaps a brand-new barnet to match.
