Veteran actor Anupam Kher, known for his stellar performances in over 500 films, recently caught attention with a rather unconventional move—he shared his resume on LinkedIn. Despite his legendary status in Indian cinema, Kher, in his signature humorous style, labeled himself as a “struggling actor.” This gesture resonated with many, as it not only highlighted his humility but also underscored his enduring passion for acting.

Anupam Kher’s LinkedIn Resume Goes Viral

Anupam Kher took to Instagram to share a snapshot of his newly updated resume, complete with a caption that delighted his fans. He wrote, “After every five years I update my resume! Luckily, in my profession, there is no age limit. Hope you like my biodata!!! Jai Ho! #Resume #Optimism (sic).” This simple yet profound statement reflected his philosophy that even after achieving monumental success, there is always room for growth and improvement. The LinkedIn resume, shared by Kher, listed him as an “Actor, Teacher, Author, and Motivational Speaker.”

This move surprised many as it offered a rare glimpse into how the celebrated actor views his own journey. Despite having played iconic roles in films like Saaransh, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Lamhe, Kher’s modest description of himself as a “struggling actor” added an element of humility that resonated deeply with both fans and colleagues.

Emphasizing Struggles and Resilience

Though Kher’s post came across as light-hearted and self-deprecating, it also touched upon the challenges he has faced throughout his long-standing career. The film industry, known for its fierce competition and evolving nature, has not always been a smooth ride for Kher. In his LinkedIn post, he reflected on his journey, writing, “If life is a movie, I’ve been blessed with a blockbuster. From a small-town boy in Shimla to walking the red carpet at global film festivals, I’ve journeyed through over 500 films, countless roles, and a lifetime of learning. My career is a testimony to resilience, passion, and the unshakable belief that failure is an event, never a person.”

His words emphasized a crucial message—that success is often built on perseverance, and no matter how established an individual may be, every career comes with its share of struggles. For Kher, each of his experiences, both good and bad, contributed to his evolution as an artist and a person. His resume update serves as a reminder that in the world of entertainment, there is always something new to strive for, even after decades of success.

An Illustrious Career Across Borders

Anupam Kher’s career spans both Indian and international cinema, and his resume is a testament to his versatile talent. Known for his remarkable performances in Bollywood, he has portrayed a wide range of characters, from the intense portrayal of a grieving father in Saaransh (1984) to the memorable supporting roles in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995). His ability to adapt to any role, whether dramatic or comedic, has made him one of the most respected actors in Indian cinema.

Kher has also ventured into international projects, marking his presence in films such as Bend It Like Beckham (2002), Ang Lee’s critically acclaimed Lust, Caution (2007), and David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook (2013). These films not only showcased his global appeal but also cemented his reputation as a versatile actor who could seamlessly transition between Bollywood and Hollywood.

Recognitions and Awards

Over the years, Anupam Kher has received numerous accolades for his contributions to cinema. His performances have earned him two National Film Awards, and he has been honored with some of India’s highest civilian awards. In 2004, Kher was awarded the Padma Shri, followed by the Padma Bhushan in 2016, in recognition of his services to Indian cinema and the arts.

Upcoming Projects

Despite his impressive resume, Anupam Kher shows no signs of slowing down. His upcoming film, Metro In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu, is slated for release on November 29, 2024. The film, eagerly anticipated by fans, will mark Kher’s return to the big screen and once again showcase his acting prowess.

A Lesson in Humility and Perseverance

Anupam Kher’s decision to share his resume on LinkedIn, while labeling himself a “struggling actor,” serves as a heartwarming reminder of his humility, perseverance, and love for the craft. His career, spanning over four decades, stands as a testament to the importance of resilience and the belief that every challenge is an opportunity for growth. Kher’s approach to life, coupled with his vast body of work, continues to inspire both seasoned professionals and newcomers in the industry.
